Essential mix with lavender essential oil

Lavender essential oil is part of almost all classic French perfumes. The floral scent with lavender accords is found in Calvin Klein Eternity for Men, Yves Saint Laurent Libre, Mont Blanc Legend Spirit, Karl Lagerfeld for Him eau de parfum. It combines well with essential oils of rose, geranium, ylang-ylang, frankincense, rosemary, chamomile, lemon balm, peppermint, white pine, cedar, sage, as well as with citrus aromas.

Lavender – a little history

Lavender is an aromatic semi-shrub with beautiful silver-violet flowers that has produced the world's most widely used essential oil for more than 2,500 years. The name of the package comes from the Latin word "lavera", which literally means "to wash", because even the ancient Romans added lavender flowers to aromatic and relaxing baths. In ancient times, Christians believed that the plant was brought from the Garden of Eden. In one myth, it is said that in order to make life on earth easier for the outcasts of paradise, Adam and Eve, God gave them useful herbs. Among them were rosemary and lavender - rosemary to support the spirit, lavender to delight the soul. The ancient Egyptians grew lavender in the sacred garden of Thebes. Expensive lavender incense was important for international trade and accompanied noble people throughout their lives, and even after death - lavender was used in the mummification process in ancient Egypt. In 1922 in sealed incense urns, witch belong to Tutankamon remnants of lavender were found, and their aroma was preserved for 3000 years. The ancient Romans used lavender by fumigating their homes with a burning sprig to ward off insects. Ancient cultures believed that lavender helped purify the body and mind. In the Middle Ages, lavender was credited with the ability to scare away the devil and witches, so it became a mandatory attribute at the ordination of priests and was declared a sacred plant by the Catholic Church. Superstitious residents wore crosses made of dried flowers or hung them at the entrance of their homes. In the era of the Renaissance, in the XIV century, the noble women of Europe already used the first perfumes in the compositions of which lavender was used. The plant became a symbol of love, beauty and sophistication. During the Great Plague in London, people tied bouquets of lavender around their wrists to ward off the disease.

Improves sleep

Lavender essential oil is every aromatherapist's first choice for insomnia because it has an absolutely proven sedative effect that calms the nervous system, lowers heart rate, reduces anxious thoughts, relaxes muscles and improves the quality and duration of sleep. To relieve stress and anxiety and improve sleep, diffuse 5 drops of lavender oil or add a few drops to a warm bath or massage mixture and massage into the temples, wrists, chest and back of the neck.

Calms the nervous system

Numerous scientific studies prove that lavender essential oil has many positive effects on the psyche, has a calming effect on the nervous system, protects it from overstimulation and balances excessive emotions. Inhaling the oil can have an immediate positive effect on mood and act as a natural antidepressant. Use lavender oil by applying several times a day to pulse points, combining with deep inhalations and exhalations.

Relieves headaches and migraines

If you're one of the millions of people who struggle with tension headaches or migraines, lavender oil may be the natural remedy you've been looking for. It is one of the best essential oils for headaches because it induces relaxation and relieves tension. According to a study published in European Neurology, people struggling with migraine headaches saw a significant reduction in pain when they inhaled lavender oil for 15 minutes.

At the first symptoms of a headache, rub a drop of lavender oil on your wrists, both temples and the back of your neck, avoiding the eye area. Alternatively, you can inhale lavender essential oil for 15 minutes or mix 2 drops of lavender oil and 2 drops of peppermint oil and rub the mask over the back of your neck and temples to relieve tension and pain.

It is useful for treating acne, wounds, burns and cuts

A study by Howard Medical College, Washington, found that lavender oil is one of the few essential oils that is powerful enough to suppress the growth of pathogenic bacteria on the skin and promote healthy tissue formation and collagen synthesis. Aromatherapists often recommend lavender oil to care for and soothe the skin, as well as to promote wound healing. Last but not least, it is important to mention that lavender essential oil is a powerful anti-bacterial, acne-fighting agent that protects the skin from infections, fights bacteria and fungi, contributes to balancing the activity of the sebaceous glands, and helps minimize the scars. To deal with acne, mix a small amount of lavender essential oil with an equal amount of grape seed oil and apply to the skin until absorbed. Do the procedure every night before going to bed.

To relieve burns and heal cuts, scrapes or wounds, combine 3 to 4 drops with ½ teaspoon of coconut oil and apply to affected areas twice daily. We also recommend mixing lavender oil with equal parts frankincense essential oil to further improve skin health.

Improves scalp health and reduces dandruff

Lavender essential oil is often used in hair and scalp care products because it works effectively and helps to moisturize the scalp, maintain its health and reduce dandruff. Research also shows that lavender oil, along with other essential oils such as thyme, rosemary, and cedar, can significantly improve alopecia areata and hair loss when massaged into the scalp daily.

MEDICAL APPLICATIONS OF LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL

A clinical trial in laboratory animals published by BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies investigated the effect of lavender essential oil on wound healing and its molecular mechanism, focusing on transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), which is required for contraction of the wound. This study demonstrated that topical application of lavender oil promoted collagen synthesis and fibroblast differentiation accompanied by upregulation of TGF-β. These data suggest that lavender oil has the potential to promote early phase wound healing by accelerating the formation of granulation tissue. The beneficial effect of lavender oil on wound healing opens up new approaches as a complementary treatment to conventional therapy.

Another 2013 study published by the International Journal of Psychiatry in Clinical Practice examined lavender essential oil's anxiolytic efficacy, safety, and potential for drug interactions. The conclusion found that the internal intake of 80 milligrams of lavender essential oil in a capsule alleviated anxiety, sleep disturbances and symptoms of depression without causing sedation.

Preliminary findings show promising potential of lavender essential oil for the treatment of psychiatric manifestations in patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. Lavender oil exhibits several biological mechanisms, such as neurotrophic and anti-inflammatory properties, that have the potential to positively impact post-COVID-19 disease. In the context of neurological diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease, lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) essential oils are of increasing interest due to their purported sedative and/or cognitive enhancing properties and, more recently, due to emerging promising neurochemical and clinical studies.

This is a lavender scented floral water. It arrived nicely packaged and boxed, and the bottle looks good too, it gives a luxurious appearance. The scent isn't too strong. It can be used for many things, for me its a combination of a pillow spray, and a cooling face spray. The company have a number of different floral scented waters, lavender would be my favourite choice. Its priced around the £10 mark so reasonable, but perhaps for a gift its more appropriate.

    Mrs. Hatter —

I absolutely love the scent of lavender and as such have a lot of toiletries and bath products as well as candles etc in lavender and also use a lot of the essential oil in burners etc, so for me the scent here is a little too subtle. Fine for a bag spray or coat spray to lightly freshen up but I think for the price I'd expect a stronger concentration.

Mum-in-law is very fond of the scent of Lavender so I got this Essences Bulgaria Organic Lavender Floral Water for her to check out for me. The most obvious thing she noticed was the lack of fragrance – this is nothing like an essential oil and the Lavender itself was barely recognisable. However, this seems to be a natural organic product that ticks some eco-friendly boxes and at around a tenner for a 250ml spray currently from Amazon appears good value on the face of it. It may be that Bulgarian Lavender

    J. Turner —

I like this immensely. The lavender water comes in a good sized spray bottle, packed in a cardboard outer. I use one of two sprays as a facial cleanser or just to refresh my skin. The spray itself is a light mist, I like that it's not heavy. The scent of lavender is light and subtle, not heavy and cloying, which too much lavender can be. My skin feels toned and there's a relaxing quality too. I apply it before bed to get a good night's rest. It's also good value for money.

    Constance Reader —

You might think that Provence grows all the lavender but I trust Bulgarian lavender after seeing how beautifully they grow Bulgarian Roses. This is a lovely product, very simply made. It's versatile, being simply lavender essence and water. I have used it on fabrics, such as headboards and sofas as well as on my face (shut your eyes). A little goes a long way as I've been spraying with abandon but the bottle still feels quite full. The scent is as you'd imagine: herbal, floral and fresh as a daisy.

This is a bigger bottle than I anticipated (there’s a drinks can in the photo for size comparison). It’s a sturdy plastic bottle with a good pump-spray top.The problem for me is that the scent isn’t as strongly lavender as I was expecting. It’s got a hint of it but I loved lavender and I was expecting a couple of sprays to fill the room with a strong lavender perfume but it isn’t really that strong. A bit of a shame.

Having previously tried this brand's rose water which was gloriously heady without being over-powering, there were similar hopes for this. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The "Essences Bulgaria Organic Lavender Floral Water" is considered insipid by comparison. Opinion also differs as to whether the fragrance is from a variety of the herb that is considered 'best' for fragrance or a less potent one. Personal views are closer to the latter option. Its use is essentially identical to that for the rose wate
