Lemon balm – a little history
Lemon balm, also called Melissa and lemon, is native to the Mediterranean. The first description of the healing properties of lemon balm was published in the 4th century BC. in the remarkable work of the ancient Greek philosopher Theophrastus "History of Plants" (Historia plantarum). In his remarkable encyclopedic work "Canon of Medicinal Science", in which 1400 medicinal plants are described, the Persian scientist, physician and philosopher Avicenna, called the father of medicine, described lemon balm as "the delight of the heart", recommending it to strengthen the spirit, improve of digestion and banishing black thoughts
and feelings.
The famous healer Hildegard von Bingen writes that when chewing a leaf of lemon balm, the body is filled with joy and optimism, and a smile glows on the face. In the 14th century, lemon balm oil was included in the composition of a tonic made by French Carmelite nuns. It is an alcoholic extract of lemon balm and other herbs - the exact recipe remains a secret to this day. The fragrant "carmelite water" was used to aid digestion, but also as a cosmetic eau de toilette and is considered the forerunner of French cologne.
In the 16th century, the famous philosopher, physician and botanist Paracelsus called the aromatic herb "the elixir of life" because it brings joy to the heart and mind. In southern Europe, lemon balm is called "the delight of the heart". Cardinal Richelieu always carried a vial of the miraculous liquid that helped him against his excruciating and persistent migraines. The 17th-century writer and gardener John Evelyn described it as "a medicine for the brain, strengthening memory, and a powerful dispel of melancholy."
To this day, lemon balm is used in aromatherapy against depression. Thanks to its magical mint-lemon aroma, it is a favorite food for bees, who simply adore it. Therefore, it is no coincidence that her Latin name "Melissa" is derived from the Greek word "µέλισσα" meaning "bee". These results indicate the potential use of M. officinalis essential oil as an antitumor agent.
Science-based claims regarding the antiviral properties of Melissa officinalis essential oil on the herpes simplex virus come from the international journal Phytomedicine. Inhibitory activity against herpes virus HSV-1 and herpes virus HSV-2 was tested in vitro on monkey kidney cells. The research paper reported that both herpes viruses were significantly inhibited by pretreatment with lemon balm oil. These results indicate that lemon balm oil affected the virus before adsorption but not after entering the host cell, so lemon balm oil is capable of exerting a direct antiviral effect on herpes viruses. Given the lipophilic nature of lemon balm essential oil, which allows it to penetrate the skin, and the high selectivity index, Melissa officinalis oil may be suitable for the topical treatment of herpes infections.
A 2013 clinical study found that M. officinalis leaf essential oil has potential anti-inflammatory properties and is able to significantly reduce and inhibit swelling by minimizing inflammation and pain in the affected area.
The aim of a study published by Advances in Pharmacological Sciences was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of Melissa officinalis essential oil and compare it to that of lavender essential oil. The result found that lemon balm oil showed surprisingly higher antibacterial activity than lavender essential oil. This is believed to be due to the presence of the natural components citral, citronellal and trans-caryophyllene, which have strong antimicrobial properties.
The Journal of Dermatological Science published a scientific study describing that lemon balm essential oil protects the skin from UV damage. UV radiation is the leading cause of skin aging and skin diseases, including skin cancer. The same study found that lemon balm oil has "melanogenic" properties that help reduce unwanted sun spots (also known as age spots). This product is nice looking. Well printed package and the bottle looks sturdy and exquisite. It is easy to spray. Just the scent is not like normal toner. It is a bit bitter and earthy. The water is absorbed easily anyway. It is claimed to be natural organic so I would like to keep using it.
Love the scent, has excellent absorbency and is uber easy to apply - spray and off you go! Hubby has a long beard and not every afershave works, as you can gather, but this misty spray is amazing for your viking no matter how long and thick his beard may be! Love it! Produkt hilft sehr gut bei Herpesbläschen. Die Heilung geht um einiges schneller voran.Ich habe mehrmals täglich mit Ohrenstäbchen dünn auf die betroffenen Hautpartien und den direkt umliegenden Bereich aufgetragen nach zwei Tagen habe ich mein Herpes besiegt.
Die Zitronenmelisse wirkt Wunder. Ich habe mehrmals im Jahr Herpes an der Lippe und bis dato verschiedene Salben und Cremes ausprobiert. Allerdings war deren Erfolg nie so gut. Ich habe mindestens sieben Tage mit dem Herpes zu tun gehabt. Mit dieser Zitronenmelisse bricht der Herpes erst gar nicht aus. Sofort wenn es kribbelt nehme ich ein bis zwei Tropfen und betupfe die betroffene Stelle an der Lippe. Innerhalb von 3-4 Tagen ist diese Stelle dann verschwunden. Ich kann diese Zitronenmelisse nur sehr empfe

Firmenphilosophie hat mich angesprochen. Qualität wunderbar. Ich nuzte es therapeutisch. Beim Duft wurden von manchen Käufern Mängel ausgesprochen. Da viele günstigeren Öle gestreckt sind, riecht es am Anfang ungewöhnlich und nicht so zitronig frisch. Dafür ist die Wirkung 100% melissig !! Es riecht nicht unangenehm.

Ich bin mit der Qualität des ätherischen Öl sehr zufrieden.Preislich seiht es zwar teuer aus, aber im Vergleich zu anderen Anbietern, die nur 1 ml für ca 16 verkaufen ist das hier sogar preiswert mit 5 ml.Gerne wieder.
Pur riecht es wirklich etwas muffig, aber zwei!!! Tropfen in 100ml Mandelkernöl gelöst und es riecht so toll und was noch viel wichtiger ist die Haut und der ganze Mensch fühlt sich wohl damit und Wunden heilen sehr schnell ab. Auch lässt Juckreiz durch Insektenstiche sehr schnell für viele Stunden nach! Wirklich Klasse!

Ich muss sagen ich habe länger überlegt ob ich dieses Öl kaufen soll oder nicht- Da ich aber sehr oft unter Herpes simplex leide und eigentlich immer die Patches benutze (die auf die Dauer auch teuer sind) wollte ich das Melissenöl probieren. Mit persönlich hilft es wirklich super! Meine Bläschen brechen weder auf noch schmerzt meine Lippe - die Bläschen gehen einfach zurück - und das innerhalb weniger Tage! Unverdünnt ist der Geruch ist echt krass und gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber sehr intensiv und man spürt, dass man es mit einem hochwertigen Produkt zu tun hat. Gegen meine häufigen Herpes-Infektionen hat es leider nichts genützt, aber ich nutze es für sehr viele andere Dinge im Haushalt. Es hält Spinnen fern und wirkt luftreinigend und desinfiziert als Raumduft in Diffusern. Man kann auch einige Tropfen in eine Spayflasche mit Wasser tun und dann damit putzen oder die Raumluft besprühen. Dann duftet es herrlich

Schnelle Lieferung und sieht hochwertig aus. Es riecht leider nicht so erfrischend wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe. Ich verwende es in selbstgemachten Lippen-Öl-Roller gegen Herpes. Mit anderen ätherischen Ölen gemischt geht der Geruch. Ich vertrage es punktuell pur sowie auch verdünnt gut.

Sehr hoch konzentriert, nicht zu vergleichen mit billigeren Oelen die ich zum ausprobieren und Vergleichen auch bestellt habe. Hat mir beim Herpes geholfen, ich bin froh dass ich das Geld ausgegeben habe. Kam sehr schnell an.
Produkt hilft sehr gut bei Herpesbläschen und ist sehr ergiebig. Die Heilung geht um einiges schneller voran als bei herkömmlichen Mitteln aus der Apotheke.

Ich bin sehr überzeugt von dem Öl. Ich benutze es gegen Lippenherpes und es erfüllt seinen Zweck. Der Geruch ist zwar gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber die Wirkung verkürzt die Herpes mindestens um die Hälfte

Zitronenmelissenöl, um seinen Lippenherpes in Schach zu halten. Ich hatte mir das Öl bestellt um es gegen Herpesbläschen zu verwenden und ich muss sagen ich bin begeistert von der Qualität. Nach nur zwei Anwendungen gingen die Bläschen bereits deutlich zurück und nach einer Woche gehörten sie der Vergangenheit an. Nachdem ich Jahre lang mit Aciclovir Creme gegen meinen Herpes gekämpft habe, bin ich auf dieses Öl gestoßen. Es hilft super, wirkt viel schneller als die Aciclovir Chreme.

Habe mir die Melisse für Herpesbläschen geholt. Wirkt super zuverlässig. Besser als alles aus der Apotheke. Auch ein, zwei Tropfen in ein Getränk gehen gut.
Meine Frau und ich nutzen dieses Öl für unsere Aufgüsse in der hauseigenen Sauna. Es ist zu unserem Lieblingsöl geworden.
